The Wild Fig bookstore at 1439 Leestown Road will close on Feb. 15. The store had been open for 3½ years.
Ronald Davis, who co-owns the book store with author Crystal Wilkinson, said the store is closing because it had been hurt by competition from the expansion of Half Price Books. Both businesses rely on obtaining high-quality used books from the community, Davis said.
Half Price Books, which has stores nationwide, operates at Hamburg Pavilion and at Fayette Place in Lexington.
Davis and Wilkinson will probably open another business, he said, although it will have a different name and is likely to be more of a boutique, where books don't make up the majority of stock.

Meanwhile, The Wild Fig is having a closing sale. Used books are 50 percent off, and new titles are 25 percent off.
