Big Blue Nation, there is a new beer in town, just in time for March Madness. Alltech Brewing & Distilling Co. is debuting the Kentucky Ale Platoon Pack, with three blue beers and three white ones.
The Kentucky White Ale is an unfiltered Belgian white wheat ale. The Kentucky Blue Ale is the Belgian white accented with blueberries, coriander and orange peel. It's 10.6 proof, with a suggested price of $9.99 per six-pack.
"In this part of the country, it's no secret that we bleed blue," said Matt Cordle, Alltech sales manager, in a release. "So our brewery is pretty pumped to be putting out this one-and-done six-pack of two different Belgian ales. I foresee a big run on these from basketball fans in the area. I'd be thrilled if I went to a watch party and the Kentucky Blue Ale and Kentucky White Ale were filling up the coolers. That's the goal."
The six-pack is debuting as the downtown Lexington brewery undergoes a renovation and expansion that will quadruple capacity. On Wednesday, large roof trusses were lifted atop the brewery building at the intersection of Maxwell Street and Oliver Lewis Way. The new brewhouse, which will showcase the inner workings, will be completed later this year.
Never miss a local story.
The limited edition beer will be available in Kentucky beginning next week. But it probably won't last long, unlike the Wildcats' expected tournament run. Alltech will post updates on shipping and availability on the Kentucky Ale Facebook page.
