The Long John Silver's and the A&W restaurants at 652 East Main Street are closing Thursday.
Sarah Blasi, a spokeswoman for Lexington-based A&W, said the franchisee was closing the restaurants. She said A&W would continue to look for opportunities to expand in Lexington.
Long John Silver's restaurants in the Lexington area that remain open include stores in Versailles, Georgetown, Nicholasville, and on Tates Creek and Versailles roads in Lexington. A&W has Lexington restaurants on Admiral Way in Hamburg, on Towne Center Drive and on Nicholasville Road.
The combined Long John Silver's and A&W on Main Street unusual among Lexington fast-food restaurants in that its entrance/exit has a traffic light, which also regulates traffic on Main Street and Walton Avenue.
