The Lexington-based business Transposagen Biopharmaceuticals is one of the 23 small businesses nationwide honored by the U.S. Small Business Administration with the 2015 Tibbetts Award, which recognizes those that have developed products or services that benefit the nation.
Transposagen's expertise includes gene-editing technology, cell-line engineering, gene-editing tools and custom-engineered rodents for research.
The Small Business Administration will honor the companies on June 15 in Washington during a White House ceremony featuring Cady Coleman, a scientist and NASA astronaut who spent six months at the International Space Station.
One other Kentucky company, cancer researcher Bexion Pharmaceuticals of Covington, is among the honorees.
