■ A Lexington nurse, Carla Basanta, has received the Outstanding Public Health Nurse Award, given annually by the Kentucky Public Health Association to honor an outstanding nurse in Kentucky.
Basanta, who has been employed by the Lexington-Fayette County Health Department for 22 years, was honored for her involvement with the public health clinic, immunizations, well-child exams, family planning and direct nursing care. The nomination also highlighted her more recent work developing and maintaining a quality assurance program for the health department, as well as organizing annual community flu shot events at senior residential centers.
■ Kim Moser, of Taylor Mill and chair of the Kentucky Physicians' Political Action Committee, has received the American Medical Association Political Action Committee's Belle Chenault Award for Political Participation during the AMA's Annual Meeting in Chicago.
■ Colorectal Surgical & Gastroenterology Associates has been recognized by the American Society for Gastroenterology Endoscopy for being an Endoscopy Center for Excellence in quality and safety. CSGA is one of two centers in the state of Kentucky recognized, and the only center in Central Kentucky that has been recognized.
ASGE's Endoscopy Unit Recognition Program is the only national program of its kind. It honors Endoscopy Centers for demonstrating their commitment to delivering quality and safety as reflected in their policies, credentialing, quality improvement activities, staff training and competency assessments.
