Kentucky history gets a little tipsy Saturday, with the Filson Bourbon Academy at Belle's Cocktail House in Lexington.
Filson bourbon historian Michael Veach, a member of the Bourbon Hall of Fame and author of Kentucky Bourbon History: An American Heritage, will guide attendees through the history and the making of bourbon, with premium bourbon tastings along the way.
Tickets are $125 and include lunch and culinary treats to go with the bourbon. The event is 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Reservations are required.
In July, Veach will return with a new history and bourbon academy, featuring people who shaped the industry and the bourbons they created or that are named for them, including W.L. Weller, E.H. Taylor Jr., George Garvin Brown, Isaac Wolfe Bernheim, James E. Pepper and Julian Van Winkle.
Never miss a local story.
Tickets for the all-day academy July 26 are $110 before July 1 and $125 after; the prices include lunch.
Call the Filson at (502) 635-5083 or visit Filsonhistorical.org for tickets to both events.
