Two men were robbed outside the DoubleTree Hotel on Richmond Road a little before 7 a.m. Monday, just a few hours after a Speedway on Richmond Road was robbed by two men.
At this point, police do not think the robberies are related, said Sherelle Roberts, spokeswoman for the Lexington police.
At the Speedway at 2900 Richmond Road, two men entered the store about 4 a.m., one holding a handgun and one with a shotgun, Roberts said. The two left with an undisclosed amount of cash and a 12-pack of beer.
Police tracked the suspects to the back of a business off Nally Drive, where they found the gray sweatshirts the men had worn, Roberts said. Police think the two got into a vehicle there.
In the other robbery, Roberts said a man with a 9mm gun approached two delivery drivers who were unloading a truck about 6:40 a.m. at the hotel at 2601 Richmond Road. The suspect demanded their wallets, which they relinquished, and took off on foot.
Roberts said the suspect was described as a black man in his 30s, about 6 feet tall and 230 pounds, and wearing a white ball cap, a sweatshirt and jeans.
