A 49-year-old woman from Perry County died after a crash on Main Street in Hazard on Saturday morning.
A Saturn passenger car driven by David Jones was heading south on North Main Street when Jones lost control and crossed into the path of a northbound Pontiac Grand Prix at about 7:22 a.m., state police said. The cars hit head-on.
The driver of the Grand Prix, Diana L. Sexton of Hazard, was taken to Hazard ARH Regional Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead. She had not been wearing a seat belt, state police said.
Jones was also taken to Hazard ARH and was later transferred to a Lexington trauma center, according to state police. No information about his condition was immediately available.
