A three-vehicle crash in Russell County Sunday morning resulted in the death of a young girl and left several other people injured.
Kinley Browning, 12, of Glasgow, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The wreck occurred about 10:30 a.m. at the intersection of KY 80 and KY 910, about two miles east of Russell Springs.
State police said in a news release that a car driven by Lois Norfleet, 71, of Russell Springs, pulled from KY 910 into the path of a pickup truck that was travelling on Ky. 80. The truck was driven by Haiden Cain, also of Russell Springs, the release said.
Never miss a local story.
After hitting Norfleet's car, Cain's truck continued on and struck a vehicle identified by police as a 2003 Ford, presumably a van, that carried Browning, two adults and six other children and teens.
The van was being driven by Christopher Yates, 37, of Glasgow. Leslie Yates, 32, a passenger, was not seriously injured.
The children and teens, all of Glasgow, were taken to area hospitals. Jacob Yates, 16; Braxton Browning, 16; and Ethan Birge, 6, were treated and released from Russell County Hospital. Hannah Yates, 8; Ryan Yates, 12; and Elliot Birge, 6, were flown to University of Kentucky Chandler Medical Center.
Everyone was wearing a seat belt, including Kinley Browning, the release said. Drugs and alcohol were not thought to be a factor.
State police are investigating.
