At 10:38 p.m. Saturday, Kentucky State Police in Morehead were alerted to a missing fisherman in Rowan County. Michael F. Padula, 53, of Morehead went fishing in the North Fork of Triplett Creek near the Cranston community and had not returned home. Police found Padula's vehicle and dog off Old Sportsman Road near a local fishing access. After a search of the area, his body was found at 5:08 a.m. Sunday by Rowan County Search and Rescue.
Padula, was farm maintenance supervisor at Morehead State University Derrickson Agricultural Complex, appeared to have been fishing and accidentally drowned. The incident remains under investigation by state police.
