A Mount Eden man was killed and four others were injured in a three-car collision in Spencer County on Tuesday.
Jason S. Thompson, 36, was killed when his Ford Mustang was rear-ended by a pickup truck and pushed into oncoming traffic, where it was struck by a Cadillac, state police said in a news release.
Two child passengers in the Mustang, as well as the driver of the Cadillac, Charles Stiles, 61, of Taylorsville, were taken to an area hospital. The driver of the pickup, Bradley G. Byrd, 35, of Taylorsville, was injured but did not go to the hospital, the release said.
The accident occurred about 6:15 a.m. at an intersection 3 miles north of Taylorsville. Thompson was stopped on Ky. 55 waiting to make a left turn onto Ky. 1633 when he was rear-ended by Byrd's pickup, state police said.

The impact sent Thompson's Mustang across the center line, where it was hit by the Cadillac, which was travelling south on Ky. 55.
Thompson, the two children in his Mustang and Byrd were not wearing seat belts, the release said. It was unclear if Stiles was wearing a seat belt.
State police's collision reconstruction unit was investigating.
