Kentucky State Police arrested two women and confiscated almost $12,000 worth of drugs after a routine traffic stop over the weekend.
It happened just before 11 a.m. Saturday on Arthur Ridge Road in Laurel County, according to the London state police post.
Troopers said Sgt. Steve Walker stopped a 2004 Chevrolet Monte Carol for a minor traffic violation.
The driver, Mary K. Lucas, 44, of East Bernstadt, appeared to be under the influence and was arrested, police said.
Troopers said that during an investigation, they found about 38 grams of methamphetamine with an estimated street value of $11,700. Various prescription drugs, scales, plastic bags and drug paraphernalia also were recovered, they said.
Lucas and a passenger in her car, Heather Smith, 34, also of East Bernstadt, were charged with first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance, third-degree possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.
