Lexington emergency crews stayed busy Sunday evening, working at least three car accidents, including a car fire on Interstate 75.
Police and fire department officials said two accidents occurred on I-75 south, one near the Athens-Boonesboro Road exit, where a Kentucky State Police car was rear-ended when an officer stopped to help a motorist.
Another call came in at 9 p.m. at mile marker 107, where a white SUV was on fire, said Lt. Jesse Harris of the Lexington Police Department. Two more vehicles were involved in that accident. Harris said he didn't know whether anyone involved was injured.
Another accident at Armstrong Mill Road involving three cars shut down Man o' War Boulevard for some time. It happened at approximately 8:40 and Man o' War remained partially shut down an hour later.
The people involved had minor injuries.
Harris said Lexington had been plagued by car accidents all day.
"It's nice, sunny weather, so I don't know what the problem is," Harris said.
