University of Kentucky police are investigating a reported armed robbery that sparked a campus alert late Thursday night.
UK spokeswoman Kathy Johnson said two men were walking in the area of Columbia and Pennsylvania avenues near the W.T. Young Library about 11:35 p.m. when they were approached by two men, one of whom had a gun.
The robbers took both victims' wallets and cellphones, and one person's laptop computer, according to UK police.
No injuries or arrests were reported.
UK said officers were looking for two men, both described as being about 5-foot-9, with medium builds. One had cornrow braids and wore dark, baggy clothing. The other wore dark jeans, a black-and-white striped hooded sweatshirt, and a white or light-pink hat.
According to some overnight accounts, gunshots were reported in the area.
However, Johnson said UK police could not confirm that there were any shots.
UK issued an alert after the initial robbery report, then sent out an all-clear shortly after midnight when a search failed to turn up the robbers.
