Here is how Lexington services are affected through Friday by the Christmas holiday:
Lexington-Fayette County Health Department: Closed Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.
Government: City and state offices closed Christmas Day and Friday.

Trash collection: Residents who normally receive Thursday pick-up will be serviced Wednesday. No collections Christmas Day. Residents with Friday pick-up will be serviced as usual.
Lexington Recycling Center and Haley Pike Waste Management closed Christmas Day. On Christmas Eve, the Recycling Center will be open for drop offs from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., and the Haley Pike facility will be open its regular hours.
The division will begin picking up discarded live Christmas trees from residences receiving city collection starting Friday. Trees will be picked up on the normal collection day and taken to the city's composting facility to be converted into mulch. All decorations and wrappings must be removed from the tree. Discarded fake Christmas trees may set out for pick-up, either bagged inside the Herbie or placed next to the container. Live wreathes and other live decorations may be placed in the Lenny cart.
Fayette County residents may recycle holiday lights and other electronics such as computers, monitors and televisions at the city's Electronic Recycling Center, 1306 Versailles Road. Learn more at Lexingtonky.gov/ecycle.

Lextran: Reduced Sunday schedule on Christmas Day.
Mail: No delivery Christmas Day.
Circuit court: No proceedings Christmas Day and Friday.
