A Hazard man was shot to death over the weekend in Knott County.
Johnny Collins, 38, and Jimmy Dunn drove to a home at 4 a.m. Saturday on Perkins Madden Road, in the Irishman community in Knott County, according to Kentucky State Police.
Collins attempted to climb through a window when he was shot by Jamie Honeycutt, who told troopers that he heard a noise in his bedroom.
Collins ran out of the window and over an embankment, and Dunn found him later, state police said in a news release.
Collins was taken to the Hazard ARH Regional Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead at 5:27 a.m. by the county coroner.
No criminal charges have been filed against Honeycutt for the shooting, but he was charged with one count of possession of a handgun by a convicted felon. He was being held in the Kentucky River Regional Jail.
The investigation is continuing. Results of the investigation will be presented to a grand jury.
