An inmate at Lexington's Blackburn Correctional Complex who would have been eligible for parole in December escaped Sunday night.
Charles Blanton, 45, walked away from the minimum-security prison about 9:15 p.m., according to corrections officials.
Blanton was serving a 16-year sentence out of Laurel County for various convictions, including manufacturing methamphetamine, officials said.
He is 6 feet tall, weighs 200 pounds and has brown hair and blue eyes.
Never miss a local story.
Anyone with information as to Blanton's whereabouts is asked to call Kentucky State Police at (502) 227-2221 or Lexington police at (859) 258-3600.
