The annual Greater Lexington Communities Responding to Overcome Poverty and Hunger Walk will be Sunday at Second Presbyterian Church, located at East Main and Ransom Avenue. Registration begins at 3 p.m. and is free; donations will be accepted. Churches, organizations and schools from five counties will walk to bring attention to the lack of food and lack of access to clean, safe water that some families face.
Twenty-five percent of the money raised will be given to God's Pantry Food Bank; the rest will go to Church World Service, the sponsor of the national, grassroots event, to benefit its global hunger/clean water programs.
The 3-mile experiential walk includes the Eastside, Kenwick and Bell Court neighborhoods. Detailed walk day info is available at Lexcropwalk.blogspot.com.
