Wine & Wags fund raiser to benefit Jessamine County animals
First Vineyard will host the Wine & Wags Friends of Jessamine County Animals annual fundraiser from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday. The non-profit organization is dedicated to finding permanent homes for needy animals. Proceeds will be used to provide spay/neuter services for these animals. Tickets, which include three wine tastings, are on sale for $20 at the Wine & Wags fundraiser Facebook page or you can pay at the door.
There will be an additional fee for photographs, psychic/animal communicator, etc. All well-behaved dogs on leashes are invited to attend.
Features include: pet psychic and animal communicator Latifa Meena, worry-free dog trainer Anthony Catapano, pet photographs by Inspire Grace Photography, wine tastings from First Vineyard, silent auction, Bobby Perry Band, Bluegrass Senior Dog Rescue, temporary pet tattoos, Petsmart, doggie nail trims, and the Animal Hospital of Nicholasville. 6K run set for Sunday
The Run for Ralph & Ryan 6K will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday on Maple Street beginning at West Jessamine High School and continuing to East Jessamine High School. Check-in begins at 1 p.m. The $15 participant fee includes a T-shirt and prizes for winners.
The run/walk event, now in its seventh year, pays tribute to the memory of local heroes Ryan Robinson and Ralph Sallee. Proceeds provide college scholarship assistance for a West High and East High senior athlete. Registration forms available at Njcpr.org. Silver Sneakers flex exercises at senior center
Silver Sneakers Flex exercise program is held at 11 a.m. Wednesdays and Fridays at the Wilmore Senior Community Center at Wesley Village, 1125 Lexington Road in Wilmore. Trainer Aureol Moore leads the class with gentle exercises designed to keep joints flexible and strong. Ghost hunts at Camp Nelson Friday and Oct. 23
Hunt for ghosts through the hallowed grounds of Camp Nelson on Friday and Oct. 23 beginning at 7 p.m. Areas to be explored include the refugee cemetery, prison and forts. A portion of the $25 per person fee goes to assist the preservation of Camp Nelson.
The hunts will be led by Suzanne Starr Williams, certified ghost hunter. Reservations are required. Call (859) 881-5716. Children under 13 not permitted. Ages 13-18 permitted with adult.
