The Hopewell Museum in Paris will open the exhibit Sports Salute: A Heritage of Athletics From Bourbon County with a free reception from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday. Guests may kick into Super Bowl mode while visiting with special guests Carolyn Collier Ware, exhibit curator and daughter of legendary coach and former Bourbon County resident Blanton Collier, and Louis Stout, author of Shadows of the Past: A History of the Kentucky High School Athletic League and a former commissioner of the Kentucky High School Athletic Association.
Exhibits range from an 1894 headline that screams "Paris Defeats Cincinnati Reds" to a sidebar that highlights the career of favorite son Tom Leach, the "voice of the Wildcats."
February will spotlight the athletes of Paris Western High School.
The exhibit will be on display through May 16.
Never miss a local story.
