Two requests for assistance to pay rent were received at the Lex-Care office this week.
Raine D. Clark, a social worker at the Dixie Elementary Family Resource Center, is working with a married couple with three children who need $750 to pay rent. The husband and wife work as cashiers at a convenience store. The husband lost income when he was arrested for failing to get proper identification from a customer. The charges were dropped and the husband has returned to work, but their rent is in arrears. Once it's paid, the family will be financially stable.
Chris Holbrook, an employee with KVC/Craney and Clark, is working with a mother of four who needs $675 to pay rent. The woman and her children left an abusive situation and moved into a house. The payment of past-due rent will give her time to look for less-expensive housing.
