Thomas C. Brown of Richmond was awarded the rank of Eagle Scout, the highest rank a Boy Scout can earn, on March 14. Thomas is a member of Troop 401. For his Eagle Scout leadership service project, he led Troop 401 in a renovation and repair project for the Lake Reba-Judy Rains Dog Park. Only five percent of all Boy Scouts earn the Eagle Scout rank. Thomas' awards include the Arrow of Light, The God and Country medal, and the Order of the Arrow. He attended the 2006 National Scout Jamboree and the 21st World Scout Jamboree in England 2007, and he went with Troop 401 to the Northern Tier High Adventure Base. Thomas is the son of Scott G. and Julie Brown. He is a graduate of Madison Central High School and will attend Virginia Military Institute.
Caleb Parsons and Michael-James (M. Jay) Parsons of Berea were awarded the rank of Eagle Scout on May 29. The brothers are members of Troop 52, which is sponsored by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Caleb's service project included raising money for four benches and three information boards for Berea Parks and Recreation. M. Jay designed and created a Butterfly Garden for Berea Parks and Recreation, and raised money for it. Caleb and M. Jay are the sons of Jeff and Lisa Parsons. Both attend Madison Southern High School.
