The following cases arrived at the LexCare office last week.
■ Kimberly Roberts, who is employed at Maxwell Elementary School, is working with a single mother, whose daughter is a student there. She is asking for $947.98 to pay for auto repairs.
The mother is an on-call substitute teacher at the school and plans to enroll in 2011 at Georgetown College to resume working on her master's degree in education. She drives a truck that has 200,000 miles on it and now needs brakes. The vehicle is needed to get her to her job and her daughter to various appointments.
Once the truck is repaired and paid for, her household will be able to function.
■ Marion Gibson, a case manager at the Imani Baptist Church, has been advising a married woman who needs $490 to pay her rent.
She is a full-time student at Strayer University. She fell behind on her bills when she lost her income. She recently returned to work and once the rent is paid she will be able to manage.
