Air Force Airman Daniel A. Monzon graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas. He is the son of Martin and Maria Monzon of Richmond and is a 2010 graduate of Madison Central High School.
Army Reserve Sgt. 1st Class Anthony R. Parris is returning to the United States after a deployment to Iraq serving in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom/New Dawn, or Afghanistan serving in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.
Parris, an instructor and 23-year veteran of the military, is a member of the 1185th Deployment and Distribution Support Battalion, based in Lancaster, Pa.
He is the son of Billy D. and Virginia L. Parris of Lexington.
The sergeant first class graduated in 1980 from Henry Clay High School and received two associate degrees in 1982 and 1984 from the University of Kentucky and Eastern Kentucky University.
Master Sgt. J. Daniel Bowlds has re-enlisted in the U.S. Army under the Indefinite Re-enlistment Program. The program is one of the Army's best initiatives to support retention of career noncommissioned officers.
Bowlds is a concert band woodwind group leader assigned to the U.S. Army Field Band at Fort George G. Meade, Md. The master sergeant has served in the military for 13 years. He is the son of Ruth G. Johnson of Lexington.
