Midway College reported that at the end of the 2010-11 academic year it reached an enrollment of 2,149 students. This is an all-time high for the college and surpasses the goal the college set of enrolling 2,000 students by the end of the academic year.
"This is a tremendous accomplishment, and all of our faculty and staff helped play a part in the college reaching this historic milestone," said Dr. William B. Drake, Jr., Midway College president. "Although everyone has been impacted by the challenges faced by our economy, there is still a high value placed on continuing education, and these numbers reflect that. We continue to see strong growth in our degree-completion programs for non-traditional students offered in the evenings and online."
The college has set a longer-term goal of reaching an enrollment of 4,000 students by 2015.
