The Jessamine Jamboree, featuring a parade, live music, food, a talent show and arts and crafts, will be all day Friday and Saturday in downtown Nicholasville.
The parade will begin at 10 a.m. Saturday on Main Street, with Clay Miller, chairman of Lockmasters Security Institute in Nicholasville, as parade grand marshal. Miller is known for driving a 1932 Ford coupe from New York City to San Francisco and then from Bejing to Paris as part of the World Race 2011 automobile competition.

Jessamine County is looking for singers, musicians and other performers for the Nicholasville NOW Amateur Got Talent Show.
The event on Saturday is a new part of the Jessamine Jamboree weekend festivities. Registration time is 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at the Main Stage, at the corner of Walnut and Main streets, and the competition begins at 7 p.m. No dancing acts are allowed. School of the Soldier is recruiting
Camp Nelson Civil War Heritage Park is looking for young recruits for the School of the Soldier at 11 a.m. Saturday and Sunday. Participants ages 6 and older will practice drills and learn about living the life of a soldier as part of the annual Civil War Days Living History event.
