Jose M. Morales Menendez, 18, has been awarded the rank of Eagle Scout, the highest honor given by the Boy Scouts of America.
Jose is a senior at Tates Creek High School and is a member of Troop 110, which is sponsored by South Elkhorn Christian Church.
He is the son of Manuel Morales and Dolores A. Menendez.
Jose has obtained 42 merit badges during his scouting years and is a member of the Order of the Arrow. He also served as a den chief for the Cub Scouts.
For his Eagle Scout project, Jose built 15 bluebird houses for Hisle Farm, 3601 Briar Hill Road. Bluebirds are native to Kentucky and are considered endangered.
