Jessamine County Fiscal Court has received a crumb-rubber grant in the amount of $17,150 from the Kentucky Division of Waste Management. Crumb rubber is recycled rubber from automotive and truck scrap tires. During the recycling process, steel and fluff are removed, leaving tire rubber with a granular consistency. The Jessamine County Fiscal Court will use the environmentally friendly material to resurface the playground at the Nicholasville-Jessamine City-County Park.
Rabies vaccination clinics for pets scheduled
The Jessamine County Health Department in cooperation with local veterinarians will sponsor rabies vaccination clinics for pets at several locations throughout Jessamine County this month. Clinic dates are: noon-2 p.m. Saturday at Rosenwald-Dunbar Elementary; 6-8 p.m. June 12 at Lake Mingo Park; 6-8 p.m. June 14 at Wilmore Elementary School; and 10 a.m.-noon June 16 at the Jessamine County Fairgrounds. Dogs should be on leashes and cats in carriers. Domestic animals only. The cost is $5 per animal.
Dean Osborne Band holds free bluegrass concert

The Dean Osborne Band will hold a free bluegrass concert in Rock Fence Park at 7 p.m. Saturday. Free parking is available at the corner of Oak and First Street, behind Central Bank or in the Hager & Cundiff lot on Second Street. The park can be entered from the steps on Second Street.
