The two cases received at Lex-Care last week involve applicants in need of assistance to pay rent and an electric bill.
Karen Thomas, a case manager at Community Action, is advising a couple with three children who need $200.12 to pay their electric bill.
Half of the woman's wages were garnished to pay medical bills. The loss of income resulted in a past-due electric bill. The garnishment will end this month. The man in the household recently got a job but will not receive his first paycheck for two weeks. Once the electric bill is paid, the family will be financially stable.
The second case was submitted by Della Davis, a social worker at the Lexington Rescue Mission.
