The Nicholasville/Jessamine County Parks and Recreation Department is accepting early registrants for the Turkey Strut 5K.
The annual Thanksgiving event will be at 9 a.m. Nov. 17 at City/County Park in Nicholasville.
Early registration received by Nov. 14 is $15; registration received Nov. 15 through race day is $20.

Event to raise awareness of chronic pain syndrome
A Walk-n-Roll meet to raise awareness of complex regional pain syndrome/reflex sympathetic dystrophy syndrome will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Lake Mingo Park in Nicholasville.
Those interested in walking, rolling or forming a support group for the chronic pain condition will gather beginning at 10:30 a.m. in the Lake Mingo parking lot.

Nicholasville city clerk wins employee honor
Nicholasville City Clerk Roberta Warren has been named the 2012 city employee of the year runner-up by the Kentucky League of Cities.
The award brings recognition to city employees who perform their duties at a distinguished level to improve their local government and community.
An independent panel of city officials and employees selected Warren as the runner-up among 14 nominees.
Warren was nominated by Nicholasville director of public utilities Tom Calkins.
Owensboro's recently retired operations manager, Tony Cecil, won the award.
Coat drive for needy children under way
The third annual Jessamine County Coat Drive for children in need continues through Friday.
Last year the drive gathered almost 300 coats and 100 light jackets in toddler through adult sizes.
Drop-off locations include Town Square Bank and the Jessamine County Public Library on Main Street, and Re/Max Elite Realtors on Edgewood Drive.
The coats will be distributed to children and families at a Nov. 13 event.
