Masonic Record of John Perry presented to Camp Nelson
Members of Hart Lodge No. 61 Free and Accepted Masons of Nicholasville presented the Masonic Record of John Perry to the Camp Nelson Foundation at their regular monthly meeting on June 2.
The Perry family figures prominently in the history of Camp Nelson, as their farm was conscripted by the Union Army in 1863 and became the core of the supply depot and recruitment center. The restored 1870s document will hang in the Perry House, also known as the White House, the only structure on the grounds of Camp Nelson Heritage Park that is original to the Civil War era.
John Perry was the son of Oliver Perry, who built the house in 1846. John Perry was initiated as an Entered Apprentice Mason on Dec. 3, 1870, and was Lodge Master in 1881, 1882, 1883, 1893, 1895 and 1898. He was also sheriff of Jessamine County in 1897.

Free tennis clinic for kids of all ability levels
Kids ages 6 to 18 can participate in a free tennis clinic at 6:30 p.m. June 17 at Asbury College's tennis courts on West Main Street near the Luce Center in Wilmore.
Participants of all abilities are invited to spend the evening learning how to play tennis or improving their game. Children 10 and younger will play using a youth format that downsizes the court and equipment while using lower-bouncing tennis balls that allow kids to rally from the get-go. Older children will play on regulation-sized courts.
Instruction, rackets and equipment will be provided. To register, contact Jarred Miller at Jarred.firstname.lastname@example.org. For information, contact Brooks Lundy (859) 509-9707 or Lblundy1@gmail.com.
