Wilmore Coaster Car Derby set for April 18
Wilmore will host its first Coaster Car Derby on April 18, when contestants will have an opportunity to race their cars down East Main Street. Drivers must be at least 7 years old. Cars may be home-built and must have four wheels, working brakes and steering. Kit cars can be built from All American Soap Box Derby Stock, Super Stock and Scottie kits. Radio station returns to the air from new office
Nicholasville's WNJK-FM has begun broadcasting from its new home at 116 North Main Street, above the property administrator's office. The radio station, which moved to Jessamine County in late 2014, had previously broadcast from a temporary location in Edgewood Plaza.

Beef farmer honored
Robert Waits of Jessamine County has been recognized as the winner of the Beef Feeder Production Award at the Kentucky Young Farmers Association's annual meeting in Louisville. Waits purchased 30 steers in April 2014 at an average weight of 452 pounds and average cost of $871. He pastured the calves for 222 days on fescue, orchard grass, timothy and clover. He incurred $955 in feed and health costs. At the time of sale, the calves had gained an average of 318 pounds, an average daily gain of 1.43 pounds, and the average gross sale was $1,604. Waits' Beef Feeder Production entry yielded a net profit of $700.34 a head.
