Camp Nelson will re-enact 1865 Lincoln memorial service
A re-enactment of the funeral ceremony marking the death of President Abraham Lincoln will be at noon Saturday at Camp Nelson Civil War Heritage Park. It will be modeled after the 1865 memorial service at Camp Nelson as the country grieved, and will include a reading of the original order and a 21-gun cannon salute by the 12th USCHA. Equine center's fundraiser
The Kentucky Equine Humane Center is hosting its annual fundraiser, Stock the Barn, from 6:30 to 10:30 p.m. Saturday at Ballantrae Farm in Lexington. The evening will include a dinner by chef Hannah McCauley, an open bar and a live auction. General admission is $75. All proceeds support the center, which works to rescue, retrain and re-home equines of all breeds. The Center, on Catnip Hill Road in J essamine County, provides humane treatment and shelter while working as a clearinghouse to seek adoptive homes for Kentucky's unwanted equines.
