Arbor Day cleanup planned Friday
The Wilmore Community Development Board is sponsoring an Arbor Day project to clean and restore Town Branch creek. Volunteers are asked to gather at AdventureServe Ministries (formerly the old camp meeting grounds) from 1 to 2:30 p.m. Friday in Wilmore.
The citizen-driven project will plant native trees along the weaving and twisting banks thanks to a $2,500 grant from the Kentucky River Authority. In preparation for the plantings, volunteers from AdventureServe, local Boy Scouts and students from The Providence School have been removing Japanese honeysuckle, picking up trash and digging planting holes.
