First Vineyard Winery will present American storyteller Mark Twain from 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday. The author, riverboat pilot, humorist, lecturer, journalist, publisher and inventor will be portrayed by Robert Brock, professor of theater at Lindsey Wilson College. Admission is free, but registration is required. An optional light dinner with wine and other beverages will be available for purchase at 6:30 p.m. First Vineyard is located at 5800 Sugar Creek Pike in Nicholasville. Behind green screens
Ever wondered how special effects are created in blockbuster movies? Join Stephanie Fitch from the Bluegrass Community and Technical College film department Thursday to learn the basics of green screen technology and get hands-on experience with special effects. Two free programs will be at the Central Bank second floor meeting room, 301 North Main Street in Nicholasville. Painting on fabric
Learn techniques for printing and painting on fabric during a three-day workshop Thursday through Saturday at Sheley Woods Studio, 125 South Main Street in Nicholasville. Participants will create a reference notebook showing various techniques as they create on fabrics such as silk, hemp, wool, cotton and bamboo. Also learn how to stretch fabric on frames for printing and how to make a portable work table for doing these projects at home.
