Beef Cattle group recognized
The Kentucky Commission on Community Volunteerism has presented the Jessamine County Beef Cattle Association with a Certificate of Recognition for its service contributions. During 2014, the Jessamine County Beef Cattle Association financially supported 11 charitable organizations in Jessamine County. These organizations, in turn, helped thousands of Jessamine County residents. The Jessamine County Beef Cattle Association has provided more than $275,000 to community organizations over the last 20 years.
Gain the powers of a superhero costume designer
Join Tracy Ward, costume director at the UK Department of Theatre and dance, for a look at superhero costume design from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday. The workshop, designed for teens and adults, will examine the challenges that costume designers and technicians encounter, as well as the colors, shapes, textures and materials used to create the look of larger-than-life characters. Volunteers needed for county booth at state fair
The Jessamine County booth at the Kentucky State Fair is in need of volunteers to speak with fair-goers about Nicholasville, Wilmore and Jessamine County. Volunteers for a half-day shift any day, Aug. 20-30, will receive two free tickets and parking to the fair for the day that you work. Morning and afternoon shifts are available.
