Seminar on transitioning to middle school is Thursday
Never miss a local story.
The free seminar entitled “A Successful Transition to Middle School” will take place at 6 p.m. Thursday at Northside Elementary School, 500 Northside Drive, Midway.
The seminar is part of the 2016 Peace for Parents educational series. Through the program, Our Lady of Peace experts help parents, grandparents, teachers, counselors and others who want to learn more about how to face challenging issues with children.
The speaker will be David Houvenagle, a therapist in the Crossroads program at Our Lady of Peace. The seminar will address issues that may arise while transitioning from elementary to middle school, including social media, developing positive relationships and bullying. Houvenagle will also discuss different stages of development, as well as emotional changes that may take place, and how parents can foster independence, while providing limits for their children.
