The Camp Nelson Civil War Heritage Park interpretive center will host Discovering Kentucky’s Abraham Lincoln from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday through May 31. The five-panel mobile exhibit illustrates Lincoln’s ties to his native state and highlights his childhood in Kentucky, his rise to president of the United States, his leadership during the Civil War, his efforts to end slavery and how Lincoln has been remembered. The exhibit is part of the Kentucky Historical Society’s Museum-to-Go series. Camp Nelson Park is 6 miles south of Nicholasville on U.S.27 at 6614 Danville Road. Summer reading preview party
The Jessamine County Public Library, 600 South Main Street in Nicholasville, will present a Summer Reading Preview Party from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday. The event will include information on summer reading and reading logs for all ages. Stilt walkers, fire eaters and jugglers from the Cincinnati Circus will be on hand, and there will be life-size tic-tac-toe, a climbing wall, a chance to win a family pool pass and food vendors. Jessamine County Emergency Medical Services will hold a Kids Safety Day from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday in the Lowe’s parking lot at 1421 Keene Road, Nicholasville. Activities include a dunking booth, bouncy house, face painting and door prizes. Ambulances, fire trucks, police cars and a helicopter will be on display.
