Snow could hit twice before the weekend ends

Before the winter weather system arrives late today into this evening, temps can make a run toward the low 40s, said WKYT meteorologist Chris Bailey. Light rain and light snow will then develop in a narrow band in the early hours of Saturday.

UK fan critically injured in S.C. shooting

Jimmy Brannon and Denise Massey of Central Kentucky were enjoying a trip to Columbia, S.C., to see the University of Kentucky football game when shots rang out early Saturday morning at a supper club that left her critically injured. The Columbia Police Department said on its Twitter page that four men and four women were wounded in the shootings in the city’s Vista entertainment district. Police said the victims’ conditions ranged from stable to critical.

Derby winner's colt rejected by birth mother, only to be adopted by mare who lost her baby days before

At Machmer Hall Farm, a mare named Maizelle adopted a two-day old colt, whose sire is Animal Kingdom and mother rejected him from birth. Maizelle lost her foal after post-delivery complications.
