A police chase that began with an armed robbery in Paris ended in a Lexington neighborhood.
Police pursued Dale Weaver and Shaunetta Thomas on Paris Pike to the Interstate 75 interchange in Lexington, said Butch Best, assistant chief of the Paris Police Department.
The two abandoned the car and ran toward the Winburn area, Best said. They were arrested on Ward Drive.
Weaver was charged with first-degree robbery and wanton endangerment, among other charges, Best said. Thomas was charged with first-degree robbery.
Never miss a local story.
Weaver is accused of holding a gun to the head of a clerk and demanding cash at Shoe Show, a shoe store in Paris, Best said. An undetermined amount of cash was stolen from the register.
No one was injured, but several customers and two employees were in the store, Best said.
Paris police said officers saw Weaver and Thomas pull out of the store parking lot.
Lexington police joined the search in the Winburn area, providing a canine tracking unit to assist, Best said.
