A 17-year-old George Rogers Clark High School student died in a wreck on U.S. 60 in Clark County Tuesday afternoon.
The girl, whose name had not been released by early evening, was driving west in a Nissan Altima around 3:30 p.m. when the car dropped off the edge of the road, said Clark County Sheriff Berl Perdue. The driver lost control and the car hit a utility pole.
He said two female passengers, ages 19 and 14, suffered non-life-threatening injuries and were taken to Clark Regional Medical Center.
Perdue said the road was clear and mostly dry at the time the crash occurred, but that the snow that had been plowed to the side of the road might have made it difficult for the driver to discern the edge of the road.
