A man shot during an attempted robbery at a Winchester truck shop has died.
Davon Marshall, 20, was pronounced dead Thursday night at the University of Kentucky Chandler Hospital, according to the Fayette County coroner's office. The cause of death was not given pending an autopsy.
Police were called at 8:45 a.m. Tuesday to a robbery in progress at the 96 Truck Stop in the industrial park north of Interstate 64's Exit 96, police have said.
Two men, whom police have identified as Marshall and Curtis Lloyd Wilkerson, 21, of Winchester, entered the truck stop and demanded money; one of them carried a gun. But the store owner shot Marshall, who was later found in a nearby field. Wilkerson, 21, of Winchester, was tackled and held down by employees. He was charged with two counts of first-degree robbery and was being held in the Clark County jail.
