A third person has been arrested and charged in the Dec. 23 shooting death of an Eastern Kentucky University sophomore.
Winchester police arrested Aaron Stailey, 18, and booked him into the Clark County Detention Center around 9:30 p.m. New Year's Eve.
According to the jail's website, Stailey is facing charges of murder and first-degree burglary. He is expected to make an appearance in court via video on Monday.
The shooting that killed Amber Caudill, 19, also wounded three others. Caudill was killed by a stray bullet while sitting in an apartment on Oxford Circle in Winchester.
Never miss a local story.
Police said Stailey and the others charged in the shooting — Lillian Barnett, 18, and Lamont Wilkerson, 20 — were attempting a home invasion of an apartment on the floor above where Caudill was shot. The bullet came through the ceiling. Barnett and Wilkerson were arrested on Christmas Eve and are also in the Clark County jail.
Caudill was a pre-art design major at EKU and a graduate of Powell County High School.
