Outbound Richmond Road was blocked Thursday afternoon because of a three-vehicle crash just past New Circle Road.
The three-vehicle collision occurred near Bob Evans at the intersection of Richmond Road and Richmond Plaza at about 3:30 p.m., said Lexington police Lt. Jackie Newman. She said Richmond Road reopened at about 4:45 p.m.
Never miss a local story.
Jeff McArdle said he was stopped at a red light on Richmond Plaza when a pickup truck that was on inbound Richmond Road began to make a left turn onto Richmond Plaza. He said the driver of an SUV going outbound on Richmond Road hit the pickup truck, and both of them then collided with his car.
The pickup truck flipped onto its cab, and McArdle said bystanders helped two people inside it get out. He said they were conscious when ambulances arrived.
He said he climbed out the passenger door of his car because the pickup was blocking the driver’s side exit. He was unhurt.
“I saw the wreck was going to happen but I couldn’t do anything,” McArdle said. “I just had to sit and wait for it.”
