Power lines fell on Lexington’s normally busy New Circle Road after a crash, forcing police to divert traffic until it was cleared, authorities said Monday.
The wreck on New Circle Road and Newtown Pike significantly affected traffic.
The crash, during which a passenger car struck a utility pole and sent power lines across the inner and outer loops of New Circle, was cleared by 10:35 a.m., about two hours after the accident happened, said Lt. David Biroschik.
The female driver was not seriously injured in the crash, Biroschik said.
Traffic on the inner loop of New Circle was directed to exit onto Old Frankfort or Leestown Road.
At one point, traffic on inbound Newtown Pike was reportedly backed up to Interstate 75.
