Kentuckians tee it up in nation’s top tournament
Three golfers with Kentucky ties will tee off in the U.S. Open through Sunday; PGA tour players J.B. Holmes (UK, Taylor Co.) and Justin Thomas (St. Xavier) and Adam Hadwin (U of L). (Thursday and Friday 11 a.m.-6 p.m. on Fox Sports 1 and 6-9 p.m. on Fox; Saturday and Sunday 11 a.m.-8 p.m. on Fox)
Crowning a state baseball champ
The Whitaker Bank/KHSAA State Baseball Tournament wraps up at Whitaker Bank Ballpark with the semifinals on Friday and the championship on Saturday. Simon Kenton will take on Marion County at 11 a.m. and McCracken County will face Pleasure Rudge Park at 1:30 p.m. in the semis. Saturday’s championship is at 1 p.m.
Free Friday Flicks: ‘The Lego Batman Movie’
The free series of outdoor screenings at Jacobson Park continues with the 2017 animated movie featuring a Lego version of the Caped Crusader voiced by Will Arnett. The show starts at dusk. Pre-show children’s activities begin at 7 p.m. Bring lawn chairs or blankets for seating. (Lexingtonky.gov/free-friday-flicks)
Clean up the Kentucky River
Help start the summer with a clean environment at the 26th annual Kentucky River Clean Sweep. Volunteers will collect trash and debris along the 12 miles of river in Fayette County, from the Clays Ferry boat dock to the Valley View Ferry dock, from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Volunteers should gather at the Clays Ferry dock off Ky. 25 under the Interstate 75 overpass. Well Crafted — Brews + Bands
Shaker Village of Pleasant Hill in Harrodsburg hosts a day of live music on two stages, food, and offerings from local craft breweries, from noon to 9:30 p.m. Tickets are $25 and include a complimentary pint glass and admission to Shaker Village. Beer, bourbon and bacon garden party
Yep, you read that right. The party runs from 1-4 p.m. at Ashland, The Henry Clay Estate, 120 Sycamore Rd. For $45 you will get to sample beer and bourbon cocktails and an assortment of Bacon-infused edibles. There will also be live music. (Thebourbonsocial.com)
