A female inmate of the Fayette County jail died Sunday at University of Kentucky Chandler Hospital, the coroner’s office reported Monday.
April R. Livingston, 32, died at 9:06 a.m., according to the Fayette County coroner’s office. An autopsy has been performed in Frankfort, but release of the cause of death is pending toxicology tests.
Livingston was found in distress at 8:15 a.m. Sunday and taken to a hospital about 8:45 a.m., according to Herald-Leader reporting partner WKYT.
Livingston has been in jail since June 6 and was serving an eight-day sentence for failure to appear and possession of a controlled substance, said Susan Straub, director of communications for the mayor.
An investigation is underway.
