Two entrances to Blue Grass Airport were closed for about an hour and a half Saturday afternoon while crews investigated a suspicious item.
Airport spokeswoman Amy Caudill said the item was found a little after noon near the baggage claim area, and Lexington police and firefighters, as well as the bomb squad, responded to the scene.
Battalion Chief Mark Harvey of the Lexington Fire Department said the item, a "device that looked suspicious," was X-rayed and determined not to be dangerous. Neither Harvey nor Caudill specified what the item was.
Caudill said no flights were affected, but passengers from two flights that landed during the incident were kept in the main terminal area for about 15 minutes before they were allowed into the baggage claim area to collect their belongings.
