Tree debris collection in areas of Lexington that receive private garbage collection is moving so quickly that the contract workers could be working in city service areas as early as Thursday.
There is less tree debris in the private areas than originally estimated, said Steve Feese, the city's director of waste management. The workers from DRC Emergency Services will be collecting debris in areas that receive city garbage collection on Fridays.
City crews are now picking up debris in areas that normally receive city garbage collection on Thursdays. Once a first pass through the entire city has been completed, crews will do a second pass in city and private garbage collection areas.
