A Fayette County grand jury has indicted four people who allegedly hindered police from making arrests in connection with the shooting of an officer.
Derwin E. Blair Jr., 28; Chad Lamont Weathers, 26; Jessica Lynn Hooten, 26; and Roshai Rice, 28, have each been charged with one count of hindering apprehension.
Earlier this week, a grand jury indicted Marc Anthony Laquinn Buchanan, 26, on charges including criminal attempt to commit murder in connection with the April 13 shooting of Officer Nicholas Whitcomb. Jesse Lewis Mayberry, 26, has been indicted as well, on charges including fleeing and evading police.
Lexington police Lt. Ron Compton declined to elaborate on how the four allegedly hindered the apprehension of Buchanan and Mayberry.
Police say the shooting occurred after Whitcomb approached two men in a parked car who he said might have broken into a vehicle and stolen a stereo.
Court documents say Buchanan eventually ran from Whitcomb and another officer, who pursued Buchanan.
He allegedly turned and fired at the officers, striking Whitcomb, and continued to run, court documents said.
